How to Use Puffco Products: A Complete Step-by-Step Guide

Charge First

Before your first session, fully charge the Peak Pro 3DXL using the included USB-C cable. The LED light pulses while charging and turns solid when complete. A full charge takes about 2 hours.

Add Water to the Glass

Remove the glass attachment from the base. Add approximately 2–3 oz (a couple of tablespoons) of water through the top opening. Reattach the glass firmly onto the base — you'll feel it seat. Inhale gently without heating to confirm no water is pulled into the airpath.

Power On

Press the single button on top of the device 5 times rapidly. The LED ring will light up to confirm the device is on. Press 5 times again to power off.

Select Your Heat Profile

A single click cycles through the 4 heat profiles: • Blue (~450°F) — Low temp, maximum flavor, lighter vapor • Green (~490°F) — Medium temp, balanced flavor and clouds • Red (~520°F) — High temp, thick vapor, intense session • White (~535°F) — Maximum temp, biggest hits Start with Blue or Green until you learn how your concentrates respond.

Load the 3DXL Chamber

Twist the 3DXL chamber counterclockwise to remove it from the base. Using a dab tool or the Puffco Hot Knife, load your concentrate directly into the chamber cup. The 3DXL holds more material than a standard chamber — a rice-grain to pea-sized amount is a good starting point. Do not overload. Reattach the chamber to the base.

Place the Carb Cap

Set the carb cap on top of the 3DXL chamber. The joystick-style carb cap that comes with the 3DXL lets you direct airflow by tilting it in any direction — this agitates the concentrate for more even vaporization.

Start a Heat Cycle

Hold the button down until the device vibrates (about 1 second). Release. The LED ring will spin while the chamber heats. The device vibrates again and the LED ring glows solid when your target temperature is reached — this typically takes 20–30 seconds.

Inhale

Begin inhaling slowly and steadily from the mouthpiece. Use the joystick carb cap to direct airflow — tilt it to move the melt around the chamber walls for full vaporization. Continue drawing until vapor production slows, then clear the glass.

Boost Mode (Optional)

During an active heat cycle, double-click the button to activate Boost mode, which raises the temperature by 35°F for 15 seconds. Use this near the end of a session to finish off remaining concentrate.

Connect the Puffco App (Optional)

Download the Puffco Connect app (iOS or Android) and pair via Bluetooth. The app lets you create custom heat profiles with exact temperature and duration settings, review session history, and access firmware updates.

Clean After Each Session

While the chamber is still slightly warm (not hot), use a dry cotton swab to absorb any remaining liquid concentrate from inside the cup. For a deeper clean, dip a cotton swab in 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and wipe the chamber walls. Clean the gold threading between the chamber and base regularly to maintain a solid connection.

Charge the Device

Charge the Peak using the included USB-C cable. The LED indicator pulses while charging and holds solid when fully charged. Allow a full charge before your first use.

Fill the Glass with Water

Lift the glass attachment off the base. Add water through the mouthpiece until it just covers the percolator holes — roughly 1–2 tablespoons. Too much water causes splashback; too little gives a harsh hit. Reattach the glass to the base.

Power On

Press the button 5 times rapidly to power on. The LED ring illuminates. Press 5 times again to power off.

Choose a Heat Profile

Click the button once to cycle through 4 heat settings indicated by LED color: • Blue (~450°F) — Low, best flavor • Green (~490°F) — Medium, balanced • Red (~520°F) — High, bigger clouds • White (~535°F) — Maximum Beginners should start at Blue or Green.

Load the Chamber

The Peak uses a standard 3D chamber. Use a dab tool to load your concentrate directly into the chamber bowl. A rice-grain-sized dab is plenty — don't overfill. The 3D chamber heats from all sides, so material anywhere in the bowl will vaporize.

Cap the Chamber

Place the included carb cap over the chamber. The carb cap controls airflow and helps maintain heat. Keep it on throughout your session.

Begin a Heat Cycle

Hold the button for about 1 second until the device vibrates. The LED ring spins during the heat-up phase (approximately 20 seconds). When the device vibrates again and the LED holds solid, your temperature is ready.

Take Your Hit

Inhale slowly from the mouthpiece. The water filtration cools and smooths the vapor. Take long, steady draws rather than hard, sharp pulls for the best experience.

Boost Mid-Session

Double-click the button during an active cycle to trigger Boost mode — a 35°F temperature increase lasting 15 seconds. Good for finishing the last of your material.

Swab After Every Session

While the chamber is still warm, use a dry cotton swab to wipe out residue. For thorough cleaning, use a swab with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol. A clean chamber performs better and lasts longer.

Charge the Proxy Base

Charge the Proxy using the USB-C port on the bottom of the base. The LED light pulses during charging and turns solid at full charge. Charge time is approximately 2 hours.

Power On

Hold the button down for 3 seconds to turn the device on. Hold again for 3 seconds to turn it off. A quick 5-click also works. The LED indicator lights up on power-on.

Select a Heat Profile

Click the button once to cycle through 4 temperature settings: • Blue (~450°F) — Low, smooth and flavorful • Green (~490°F) — Medium, well-rounded • Red (~520°F) — High, dense vapor • White (~535°F) — Maximum output The Proxy Core Kit is designed for efficient use of concentrate at all temperature levels.

Attach the Core Piece

The Core attaches to the top of the Proxy base. Align it and press down firmly until it seats. The Core is a compact, integrated mouthpiece-and-chamber housing designed for low-profile use without needing a separate glass attachment.

Load Your Concentrate

Open the Core to access the 3D chamber. Load concentrate using a dab tool or the Puffco Hot Knife. A small, rice-grain-sized amount is appropriate. Close the chamber and make sure the carb cap is in place.

Start a Heat Cycle

Hold the button for 1 second until the device vibrates. The LED spins during heat-up. When the second vibration occurs and the LED holds solid, you're at temperature.

Inhale Through the Core

Draw slowly and steadily through the Core mouthpiece. The Core is designed for direct, low-profile hits without water filtration. Take slow, controlled pulls for the best vapor.

Use with the Puffco App

Connect the Proxy to the Puffco Connect app via Bluetooth to dial in custom temperature and session duration settings. The app gives you precise control over your vapor experience, including Vapor Control Mode for more consistent clouds.

Clean Regularly

Swab the 3D chamber after each session while still warm. Clean the Core mouthpiece by soaking in 90%+ isopropyl alcohol for 20–30 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Wipe the Proxy base with a dry cloth — never submerge the base in liquid.

Charge the Proxy Base

Plug in via USB-C on the bottom of the base. Charge fully before first use — about 2 hours. The LED pulses while charging.

Power On

Hold the button 3 seconds to power on. Hold again to power off. Five rapid clicks also toggles power.

Attach the Pipe Glass

The Proxy Pipe Kit includes a glass pipe-shaped attachment. Slide the Proxy base into the pipe piece — the base ports lock into the glass with a firm, secure fit. The connection creates an airtight seal for clean vapor delivery.

Add Water (If Using a Wet Attachment)

If your pipe attachment has a water chamber, add a small amount of water — enough to cover the percolator without splashing into the mouthpiece. Many Proxy pipe configurations are designed to be used dry.

Load the Chamber

Access the 3D chamber through the top of the Proxy base. Load concentrate with a dab tool. Keep loads small — the 3D chamber is efficient and a little goes a long way.

Place the Carb Cap

Set the carb cap on top of the chamber. The carb cap is essential for proper airflow and complete vaporization — don't skip it.

Select Heat Profile and Start

Single-click to choose your temperature (Blue/Green/Red/White). Hold the button to begin the heat cycle. Wait for the vibration and solid LED before inhaling.

Inhale from the Pipe Mouthpiece

Draw from the end of the pipe attachment. The pipe-style form factor makes the Proxy feel familiar to anyone used to a hand pipe, while delivering electronically controlled vapor through the 3D chamber.

Switch Attachments Anytime

The Proxy base pops out of the pipe attachment and into any other compatible Proxy accessory. Swap between the pipe, Core, or a glass water piece depending on the situation — same base, different experience.

Clean After Sessions

Swab the 3D chamber with a cotton swab after each use. Clean the pipe glass separately by soaking in 90%+ isopropyl alcohol, rinsing with warm water, and letting it air dry fully before reattaching.

Charge Before First Use

Charge the Pivot via USB-C until the LED indicator shows a full charge. First charge may take up to 1.5 hours.

Power On

Click the button 5 times rapidly to turn the Pivot on. The LED will light up. Press 5 times again to power off. The Pivot also has a 10-minute auto-off feature to preserve battery.

Choose Your Temperature

The Pivot features 3 heat settings, toggled with a single click: • Blue (~420°F) — Low, clean flavor • Green (~520°F) — Medium, balanced • Red (~600°F) — High, maximum vapor output For first-time use, start with Blue to understand how your concentrate behaves.

Load the Chamber

The Pivot uses a coil-style atomizer chamber. Use a dab tool to carefully load a small amount of concentrate (about the size of a grain of rice) directly onto the coil. Do not overload — excess material can clog the airway or burn rather than vaporize.

Activate and Inhale

Press and hold the button to activate the coil. Inhale slowly from the mouthpiece while holding the button. Hold for 3–5 seconds, then release and continue drawing until the vapor clears. For larger sessions, repeat as needed.

Hold Vertically

Always use the Pivot in an upright position. Holding it horizontally or upside down can cause liquid concentrate to pool improperly in the chamber, reducing efficiency and potentially clogging.

Preheat Mode

Double-click the button to activate preheat mode, which pulses the coil at a low temperature for a few seconds. This softens thick concentrates before your main session, making them easier to vaporize evenly.

Clean the Mouthpiece

Soak the mouthpiece in 90%+ isopropyl alcohol for 20–30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and let it dry completely before reattaching. Clean the threading and connection with a cotton swab and iso.

Replace the Atomizer When Needed

With regular use, atomizer coils degrade over time. Signs you need a replacement: reduced vapor, burnt taste, or visible buildup that won't clean off. Replacement atomizers for the Pivot are available at Mister Smokes.

Charge the Hot Knife

Charge via the USB-C port on the cap/body. The LED indicator shows charge status. The Hot Knife charges quickly — typically under 1 hour.

Power On

Click the button 5 times to power on. The LED will confirm the device is active.

Choose a Heat Setting

A single click cycles through 3 heat settings: • Blue — Low heat, gentle loading • Green — Medium heat, good for most concentrates • Red — High heat, for sticky or cold shatter For softer concentrates like live resin or rosin, use Blue. For harder concentrates like shatter, use Green or Red.

Heat the Tip

Press and hold the button. The metal tip heats up within a few seconds. The LED holds solid when it's ready — typically 3–5 seconds.

Scoop and Load

Touch the heated tip to your concentrate. It melts cleanly onto the tip with minimal waste or residue left behind. Immediately transfer the concentrate into your dab chamber (Peak Pro, Proxy, Pivot, etc.) while the tip is still warm.

Cap and Store

After loading, let the tip cool before capping the Hot Knife for storage. The included cap protects the tip from damage and keeps residue contained.

Clean the Tip

Reheat the tip briefly and wipe off residue with a dry cotton swab. For a deeper clean, use a cotton swab dipped in 90%+ isopropyl alcohol on a cooled tip. Never submerge the Hot Knife body in liquid.
